Mums, grandmothers, wives and partners hold a special place in our lives. Most often they’re caregivers, personal taxis to childhood sporting and after-school events – and the parent that lets us get away with more than our fathers! Picking what best to write in a Mother’s Day card to keep things personal can be hard, but as any mum will tell you – speak from the heart and it’s the thought that counts.
We’d recommend something like the following for a general structure for a really personalised Mother’s Day card;
- Open with a ‘Happy Mother’s Day’, or even something simple like ‘Dear Mum’, ‘Dear Grandma’, or whatever term you’d usually use for the special mother figure in your life. Keep things natural and match your greeting with what suits your relationship best.
- Say thanks for her love and guidance, for being there when you need her, or even for driving you around everywhere as a child! Say thanks for the things you admire most and are truly thankful for. Stay way and positive, even if sometimes your relationship can be a little rocky.
- Perhaps mention a favourite story or memory that’s important or funny to both of you.
- Wrap up your Mother’s Day card with a simple closing such as ‘With love, <name>’, or be a little more personal with a heartfelt closing.
